Call for Submissions: Redevelopment of the Market Area in via Buontalenti and Piazza Cavallotti

The goal of the competition is the redevelopment of the market area in via Buontalenti and piazza Cavallotti, through the regeneration of a central urban space for the city, which gives an input to the renewal of the historic center of Livorno. The result will have to be an increase in both the commercial and social vocation, accentuating the urban quality, welding it to the recovery and implementation of market functions and aggregative functions, with a proposal that takes into account a vision of both the specific and general urban context.

The Administration requires a project capable of expanding the market system of the entire area from a commercial, logistical and social point of view. This process will have to accentuate its architectural and urban values by characterizing a real Natural Shopping Center that will facilitate aggregation. Spaces and paths of sale and consumption must merge with the use of places even outside the opening hours of the market, enhancing their commercial, relational and residential vocations both during the day and in the evening.
